Need to Restock your Patrol Vehicle? Here’s a quick list!

PATROL VEHICLE GEAR LIST

BUT FIRST: The Basic Inspection:

Inspect exterior and interior: document any damage and notify supervisor.

□ Inspect under-carriage for damage or leaks.

□ Check tires and their pressure.

□ Verify spare and jack kit. Know how to change a flat.

□ Inspect weapons mounts. Make sure you can secure the rifle, and retrieve it efficiently.

□ Check fuel and other fluids: Oil, coolant, brakes, transmission, windshield.

□ Inspect suspect caged area for any contraband and objects.

□ Check driver and passenger area: beneath seats etc. Ensure no one left case evidence, seized weapons, trash or anything else.

□ Wipe everything down with an approved solution.

□ Check gauges and electronics: Lights, siren, PA, and radio.

□ Ensure MDT is functioning and charging properly

□ Don’t ignore warning signals. Schedule the vehicle for service!

□ Wash exterior at soonest opportunity.

□ Your supervisor should be impressed on a spot-check!

□ Clean - Be ready for the surprise ride-along.

□ Report preventative or corrective maintenance issues.

□ DON’T BE A BLUE FALCON. Ensure your vehicle is prepared for the oncoming officers!

*Note: is your vehicle armored anywhere? What What are the positions and dimensions of the door armor plates, if any?

PATROL VEHICLE: BASIC GEAR LIST

Weapons:

□ Rifle - Properly secured with extra ammunition.

□ Shotgun - Patrol Ready

Less Lethal: Verify no live rounds!

□ (“blue”) Shotgun

□ 40mm

Required - Check items from your department policy.

□ First Aid Kit

□ Fire Extinguisher

□ Road Flares, cones, traffic control devices

□ Spare Tire

□ Crime Scene Tape

□ Maximum Restraints i.e. “The Wrap

□ CSI Kit + Evidence Bags (See Pg. 16 in the Patrol Guide for CSI supplies).

Essential:

□ Plate carrier Vest

□ Water - extra bottles for partners or the public

□ Breaching tools: Crowbar, Bolt Cutters

□ Tool Box

□ Lunch Cooler ( See Page 21 in the Patrol Guide for meal prep menu. )

Riot Gear:

□ Helmet

□ Gas Mask with Extra Canister

□ Baton / Bat

□ Pads / Armor

□ Protective Gloves

Special Position Equipment:

□ Drone, SWAT, Traffic K9, DRE, . etc.
