12 Steps to Become a Police Officer

TACBOOK 3RD EDITION
Weather proof, tear proof, writable
In our line of work, having timely and accurate information is critical. It seems every cop has a ticket book stuffed with cheat sheets or that classic copy of selected vehicle codes taped to the posse box. Before TacBook, I have yet to see a comprehensive field guide, combining the many topics we so commonly address. As a police officer, I regularly investigate domestic violence, traffic collisions, burglaries, sex crimes and DUIs, for examples. It really helps to refer to this booklet on scene – it reminds me of codes and refreshes me on certain procedures. For traffic stops, I have hundreds of common Vehicle Codes at the ready. Recalling the radio codes was a daily challenge at the academy. In a land where Spanish is increasingly common, my TacBook is there with the necessary words and phrases. When it is an emergency call, having 1st Aid/CPR, Hot Crime Broadcast and Pursuit protocols within arm’s reach is crucial. When in court, I can be sure I conducted my Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, Miranda Warning, and Curbstone Line-Up admonishments properly, because I read it word-for-word from my TacBook. I stay knowledgeable on the landmark cases by perusing through relevant Case Law, often revisiting the US Constitution page. And, there are even some words of wisdom and motivation. There is a lot more in the booklet like diagrams and drug laws, but it remains small enough to carry on duty so you can locate information quickly. Whether you work in Law Enforcement, Corrections, Parole, Probation, Parole or Security, throw the TacBook in your cargo pocket. (This new edition is weather-proof writable and tear-resistant!) Or, if you know a field operator, it makes a great and affordable gift. It’s a dangerous world… Be Patrol Ready! – Marcus
